Pets make our world better, and that’s why we’re working to create a better world for them. But delivering veterinary care can be complex. Pets can’t tell you what they’re feeling … or where it hurts … or what caused their symptoms. 

So several years ago, our Banfield Pet Hospital set out on a quality journey, something never done on this scale in veterinary medicine. We began by launching our Quality Declaration — a statement of our commitment to quality and a call to action for each of our Associates to:

At Mars Petcare, our nutrition philosophy is central to our strategic purpose to make A Better World for Pets™. It reflects our respect for pets and the importance of the foods we make. Mars Petcare has always taken pet nutrition seriously. In 2010, we codified our guiding principles for pet food and nutrition. This philosophy builds on our historical approach and demonstrates our commitment to continuing to lead in the world of pet nutrition and care in the future.

Pets are part of our families. They live at the intersection of heart and home, but U.S. cities sometimes aren’t as welcoming for our four-legged friends. While some barriers remain to establish pet-friendly policies in local communities, Mars Petcare is working to take you and your pet in a new direction to create a better life together.

As amazing as our pets are, one thing they can’t do is tell us what they’re feeling—if they’re sick, hurt or simply tired. But we’ve imagined a world where pets can better communicate with us, allowing us to better care for our four-legged friends. The idea is now fueling the largest tech-driven pet health study to date.  

We believe that we can use the technology we have today to create a bold and bright future for pets tomorrow — and that includes setting them up for a lifetime of good health. By observing the health data histories of pets, we have a better understanding of early indicators that could help prevent disease in the future.  

We have a passion for pets. Simply put? They make our lives better. Pet owners are said to live longer, healthier, more social lives. As we work to create a better world for pets, we’re taking a closer look at the human-animal bond.

The studies may surprise you. While most gravitate towards a dog or a cat, a new four-legged friend is galloping onto the scene—and the benefits could change the lives of some very deserving kids.  

After a great amount of deliberation and thought, we've decided to discontinue EVO™ pet foods, beginning in the summer of 2018. At Mars, we’ve loved helping to provide your four-legged family members with high-quality nutrition, and we know loyal fans of the brand are disappointed by the news. Discontinuation of Evo®

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but we ultimately decided to discontinue EVO™ because the food simply became too expensive to produce at the level of quality we demand at Mars Petcare.

The benefits to humans from pet interaction have been well documented, from reducing stress to keeping us active to providing safety. But Mars Petcare has taken this work a step further and looked specifically at the impact of animals on older adults. Could a pet help navigate the numerous life changes facing older adults, including loss of loved ones, retirement, illness and more? 

Our Associates are the beating heart of our business, and they’re all on the same page about taking action today — in both their professional and personal lives — to create the world we want tomorrow.

In Australia, for example, our Mars Petcare Associates recently stepped up to a challenge from our General Manager to spend 1,000 hours volunteering with shelters and animal rescues over the course of a year. But our pet-loving Associates knew they could do better — and they did — logging 880 hours in a single day!

We truly believe pets make the world a better place. Making them happy, healthy and welcome is at the heart of our Petcare business and our pet-loving Petcare Associates worldwide. Their passion and commitment mean 400 million pets benefit from our nutritious food, high-quality veterinary care and cutting-edge research.
